Israeli National Center of Blue Economy
Background
The Israeli National Center of Blue Economy and Innovation was established in 2022 and leads Israel’s Blue Tech sector. The center acts as a hub for ocean tech startups, providing them with necessary support, resources, and infrastructure to help them grow and achieve commercial success.
Toward the end of December 2023, the Israeli National Center of Blue Economy & Innovation (“Blue Economy”) contacted us with an outdated website overflowing with mass information. The board of Blue Economy provided us with the necessary material to upgrade the website and create its new digital identity with a personalized and distinct color scheme and design language.
Challenges
1
Limited timeframe to bring complete a large, perfected project
2
Large amounts of information to filter through and edit for relevanceÂ
3
Old-fashioned design that had to be completely updated
4
Renovating and upgrading the website while maintaining the existing look and feel
Objectives
- Focus the messaging
- Make the website accessible yet educational
- Maintain the integrity of the mission while displaying it through a consumer-friendly design
- Incorporate the Institute for Maritime Policy and Strategy website as an internal section of the website
Strategy and Implementation
-
Reorganizing the website's architecture
We sat with Blue Economy’s project manager to prioritize and focus messaging before structuring the website’s framework, creating an enhanced, UX-friendly architecture.
-
Focusing on the messaging
Through consultation we sharpened the mission’s messaging to stand at its core.
-
Limited time frame
Before diving in we structured a comprehensive yet realistic GANTT, to generate excellent results while on a time crunch.
-
Designing from scratch
Assigning brand colors and graphics that will set the Center of Blue Economy’s signature look. We created infographics according to a brand new design language, creating a user-friendly experience allowing users to more easily engage with the website’s content while simultaneously remaining aesthetically pleasing.
-
Refurbishing the content
By sticking to Blue Economy's core mission, we produced message-focused content, aligning it with the redefined identity of the website.
-
Templates and tutorials
Along the way, we built templates and tutorials for the Blue Economy team, serving as a guide for editing and maintaining the website in the long run.
-
SEO-rich content
While remodelling the website, we made sure to use important keywords and key phrases within the copy and across metas and alt-descs, to optimize Blue Economy’s exposure and influence.
-
The Institute for Maritime Policy and Strategy (MPS)
Originally a part of the University of Haifa, MPS began as a research department and joined forces with the Center of Blue Economy. We were tasked with creating MPS - a designated website within the Blue Economy site. The volume of content was significant and required a deep dive into Google Archive with the help of researchers who have worked with this subject before.
Results
The Israeli National Center of Blue Economy & Innovation: With live footage of the beautiful sea life, combined with infographics that highlight Aquaculture, Ecosystem, Biotechnology, and more, the cultivated website encapsulates professionalism and expertise all at once. We ascertained the website’s educational purpose through an enjoyable, lively, and engaging composition.Â
The Institute for Maritime Policy and Strategy: We provided MPS with its own personalized website, where information about the program, its researchers, studies, and scholarship opportunities are organized in a prime layout for maximum comfort and accessibility.Â
