It depends on the platform and the situation. At Percepto, we work to create fresh, additional, relevant content to supersede and suppress the outdated or irrelevant existing links, including articles, features, profiles, opinion pieces, and more.  

In some cases, sending updated information to the platform can be enough. For example, editors / publishers for profiles on various business websites would most likely be happy to amend out-of-date information. Press articles, however, are unlikely to be removed or edited.

In many cases, negative or unwanted links are more likely to be pushed down than totally removed.
